Mozambique 2007
After months of umming and ahhing, I have decided to take the plunge into the blogosphere!! Enjoy!! My first project as director for Southern Africa for Medical Ministry International (MMI) http://mmint.org will be in Mozambique in October. It has been an amazing time of preparation already, just to see the hand of God in it all, starting last year already as we submitted the paperwork to the Mozambican government for permission to bring eye surgeons and dentists into the country for a 2 week project. The permission was granted in March this year and so with the full support of the government, the preparations for the project began. We already have 2 dentists and an eye surgeon committed and a faithful helper collecting supplies stateside. I am going up to meet with our hosts in Macomia (northern Mozambique, where we are basing the project) next week, as well as the hospital director, to do some scouting and legwork in preparation for the team's arrival in October. We are still in need of nurses and a couple of helpers, as there has already been over 100 potential cataract patients identified for surgery. If there is any interest out there, please go to MMI's website for further info. Prayers for the project would be greatly appreciated, especially the team members and the supplies we need to still gather. More on this project soon!!
